Euxoa serricornis? - Euxoa serricornis

Euxoa serricornis? - Euxoa serricornis
Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Pima County, Arizona, USA
March 24, 2020
Size: ~23 mm TL
Found at the Alamo Canyon Campground. First thought this might be Euxoa inconcinna, but the white edged orbicular and reniform spots just did not match up with that species. After careful review of all Euxoa species on BugGuide and MPG, E. serricornis seems like a really good fit. I also compared to images on Barcode of Life and Moths of Southeastern Arizona. I was somewhat surprised with how well this image matched up with the original 1887 description of serricornis by J.B. Smith.

Moved from Euxoa. Moving this to species after discussion with Jim Vargo.
