Rhamphomyia - female

Rhamphomyia - Female
Parkwood, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
May 20, 2005
Size: 10 mm
Lateral view showing ovipositor, I presume. The fringed legs are hiding the air sacks. Image updated 2/22/2020!

This series, I think, shows the value of getting multiple views of the same insect. The air sacks were only visible on a couple of the dozen photos I took of this individual. I did not even notice them until posting a photo and finding the discussion by Robin McLeod under one of his photos of this genus.
