This one actually flew away from me, which I've never seen this species do before. It flew a short distance and immediately ran into some sparse leaf litter.
On a sunny open forest road, oak-hickory woods, somewhat rocky.

A-ptero-
I did not realize "they" changed the genus again. But wouldn't "A-ptero-" mean no wings? They can fly a little bit even though running is their specialty. The males, in particular, have REALLY long legs as you can see in this photo!

 
Yeah,
I guess maybe some of the other species in the genus lack wings? I'm not sure.
