Can this be taken to species? If not, what field marks do I need to document?
This is a "regular" each year on the SCC Nature Trails.

11 flagellomeres = ♂
There are no long hairs on ventral side of hind-leg femora. = Check
The mandibles are light colored. = Check
The wings are orange-colored with dark tips. = Check
The legs are mostly red with some black on the femora of the males. = Check
The abdomen has four pale bands. (on the males) = Check
This widespread species reaches virtually everywhere, including Florida. = Check
This must be a male Tachytes distinctus.
