Free app that’s working ok for me

Hi, I know nothing about insects or photography but they are both a large part of my free time. Since I have been posting here I use a free app for my iphone called “Smart Micro Optics.” You may not get to see the subject in fine detail, but for people like me who study and learn from the experts here for the plain fascination of this little world, it works great.

The only complaint I have is it doesn’t save the photos in order and it may delay posting all the shots if you take several in a row. Sometimes it doesn’t focus great if the light is funky or the shot is busy but I like it and it’s free and it is on my phone. The app saves the photos and you then save the ones you like from the app to your phone. The photos do accumulate on the app as you take them and it can become a sea of photos after a while if you aren’t deleting/saving photos to your device.

Pretty much all the photos taken on my page were taken with this app. It is a great backup for those who might not have a camera when you see a rare bug.

Anyway, thank you to all who make this site so damn wonderful.

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing this useful app. There are some issues to it as you mentioned but I think overall, it’s still a useful app. Not only that, it’s free!
