Sigela Species - Sigela brauneata

Sigela Species - Sigela brauneata
Karnack, Harrison County, Texas, USA
May 9, 2020
Size: 12mm
Found hanging from an American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) leaf. Placed back on a leaf for photos but wasn't particularly happy with that and kept jumping off. Would go on to feed overnight on things growing on a dead twig the collected leaf was placed on. Seems much more content to be resting on the twig.

Crazy interesting!
Great find!

Thank Buckwheat Vine
For some reason I have made it my mission in life to pull American Buckwheat Vine off of young trees growing in the seasonally flooded areas where it thrives and just such an effort led to this discovery. Can't imagine ever finding one resting on bark as they are quite small (this fellow has already pupated) and perfectly camouflaged when viewed life size.
