... why you think this is in Diastema? What has been overlooked that might place it in that genus?

 
Not sure why Steve didn't add anything here
Jim Vargo identified this and similar images an an undescribed species of Diastema. This certainly looks very different from described species in the genus, but it is not too far off in pattern from the closely related Leuconycta.
