Paravilla fulvicoma
Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, Irwindale, Los Angeles County, California, USA

I'm trying to decide whether this may be Paravilla fulvicoma , one of several bombyliids currently hanging around the Diadasia bee burrows.

Hi Hartmut,
This looks like he just eclosed and has yet to color up. It could be fulvicoma but it would be hard to confirm. Do you have any pics of ripe specimens?

Hi Andy,
I just posted one (1 ), and planning to go back tomorrow.
By the way, though principally looking at plants on a recent trip to the East Mojave, I think I have both a male & a female of Anthrax seriepunctatus in the Clark Mountain Range.
