Ground beetle? - Laemostenus complanatus

Ground beetle? - Laemostenus complanatus
Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA
May 17, 2020
Size: 3 cm?
On iNaturalist, and in my Insects of the LA Basin book, I really thought this looked like Laemostenus complanatus, but my book says it is only 10 mm. This was a big beetle. I would put it at more like 3cm. Found several of them while sweeping up fallen loquats leaves and fruit from a cement patio. Warm lately - 80s.

Moved from Frass.

Laemostenus complanatus a good guess; sure no Pterostichus

Moved from Beetles.

Possible genus guess
Not completely certain but you might want to look at the genus Pterostichus
