Unknown Ichneumon

Unknown Ichneumon
Short Hills Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada
May 28, 2020
I've never seen an ichneumonoid of this sort - although I'm not even sure if it is one. It looks similar to the European Amblyjoppa genus but their range doesn't seem to include North America.

Moved
Moved from Cratichneumon.

Moving upwards in the least. There are somewhat similar Ichneumon and Cratichneumon species to this, and BugGuide is missing the majority of each species at present. I would suggest running this by Brandon Claridge as separating the genera can be tricky from photos, but I do think there's reason to look into Ichneumon at or near annulatorius just based on what we have access to right now.

Ichneumon?
This looks like an Ichneumon annulatorius female

Moved
Moved from Ichneumon Wasps.

Cratichneumon (female)…

Thanks!
I think you're right. I don't know if it's possible to narrow it to species, but this is great. I appreciate all the expertise here.

Moved to Ichneumonidae for expert attention
Moved from ID Request.

With luck, others will be able to take it further.

Welcome to BugGuide!

Thank you!
Love all the work here. Thank you :)
