Striped beetle - Carabus auratus
Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA

Size: 1 inch
This insect was walking around my living room, captured in a pint glass and photographed on my cutting mat. Although distorted by the glass somewhat, it's clearly about an inch long. Had a coppery hue and gold stripes.
