Limenitis archippus
Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, USA
May 14, 2008
Size: 1 inch
Also found several of these on the bush. It did appear to be a type of willow bush. It was only about 3 1/2 feet tall.

White Admiral/Viceroy/Red-spotted Purple
This is one of the three-caterpillar-look-alikes. I can't tell the difference until the butterfly emerges from pupa. Larva overwinter in rolled leaves.
