Size: 31mm wingspan
Found dead and covered with ants at rural store, so no live image was possible. It seems to be a one species genus in Noctuidae, but I have no idea what subfamily it belongs in. The only representative photo I could find was Vargo's at MPG. Both abdomen and hind wings have discolored; they were a fairly bright light yellow. Holland cites without plate photo reference and lists range as simply, Texas.

Cerathosia
Great find! According to All-Leps, this species is listed under subfamily Eustrotiinae, and the tribe would be Cerathosiini (ref here). I created a species page for this one.

... Good to see I'm not the only one who will fight off ants for a dead but good specimen. :)

Thanks again, J.D.,
...and the ants are easy, a fast moving Chevy? - not so much.
