Parasite emerging from caterpillar
Sidney, Champaign County, Illinois, USA
June 6, 2020
Parasite (maggot?) emerging from a caterpillar that was found on kale.

A bunch of others already had emerged before photo was taken.

The caterpillar died soon thereafter.

What kind of caterpillar? What kind of parasite?

I would presume the parasites are something from Braconidae
However, the extremely small size of the images likely prohibits attempts at a more specific ID of either the parasites or the caterpillar.

These images can be frassed after the ID is seen.
