Baileya ophthalmica

Baileya ophthalmica
Karnack, Harrison County, Texas, USA
May 18, 2020
Size: 23mm
Found as an initial instar on American Hophornbeam (Ostrya virginiana). For those keeping a box score the larva molted on 04/29, 05/03, 05/06, and 05/13. The first two instars lacked stripes but were otherwise fairly easy to recognize as Baileya. The last three instars are nearly identical.
