Microchrysa polita - male

Microchrysa polita - Male
Marlton, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
May 16, 2008
Size: Maybe around 5 mm?
At first I though this was some type of syrphid, but now I wonder if it is possibly a Soldier fly (Stratiomyidae), maybe Microchrysa polita?
