Labrador Hollow Unique Area, Tully, Onondaga County, New York, USA
June 6, 2020
Dozens of these caterpillars seen crawling along the boardwalk in a swamp (hemlock, red maple, many ericaceous species, cattail, others). A couple of aggregations were seen on what I believe was white ash; this isn't listed as one of their hosts but information states that they will seek a variety of food sources in later instars. I didn't see them on any other plant.

Moved from Butterflies and Moths.

FYI BAMONA lists White Ash and Brian Scholtens authored a paper listing Fraxinus pennsylvanica as a 'secondary host'.

thanks!
Good to know, thank you! The caterpillar book I have didn't have it listed. I wasn't aware of BAMONA, I'll have to check it out.
