Hypena deceptalis

Hypena deceptalis
Thompson WMA, Fauquier County, Virginia, USA
May 15, 2008
Size: Small-medium
This moth species was very common along the higher sections of a wooded hill-side jeep trail. It was amazingly cryptic and very difficult to locate whenever it landed. On more than one occasion, one flew up from a spot on the trail that I was looking directly at with binoculars without seeing it.

ID
Looks like it might be Hypena deceptalis here

I think you're right
That looks very much like it, thanks John
