colorful ichneumon wasp - Cratichneumon - male

colorful ichneumon wasp - Cratichneumon - Male
Lake Meyer Park, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
June 12, 2019
Size: ~15 mm
This large colorful ichneumon wasp looks very much like a wasp in my photo files that was identified on BugGuide as being in the genus Cratichneumon. Unfortunately I was only able to get this one photo, but the markings and long narrow bent orange abdomen seem to suggest a Cratichneumon wasp if those details are distinctive enough.
