Unknown Beetle - Dicerca crassicollis

Unknown Beetle - Dicerca crassicollis
Navarro, Mendocino County, California, USA
May 14, 2008
This beetle appears to be a buprestid, but I have no idea what species. The beetle was found in a redwood dominated forest on a flood plain near a small pocket of dead and dying grand fir. Anyone have an idea as to the species?

Genus Dicerca...
...D. crassicollis I believe, based on the pattern of the prominent smooth areas of the elytra. This species does breed in dead gymnosperms.

I also believe this is D. cra
I also believe this is D. crassicollis. I compared it to the illustrations in Nelson's key and it makes a pretty good match.

My first thought was that this is a species of Dicerca, as most have the tapered elytra that this specimen shows. Looking in Arthur Evans' "Field Guide to Beetles of California," however, I now wonder if this is not Trachykele nimbosa. The habitat certainly fits. Ted MacRae is our resident buprestid expert, so perhaps he can confirm or deny.
