Size: ~ 8 mm
Resting on a flower bud of Louisiana Iris.

Dunno
Looks like a small house fly of some kind (need an expert).
But what I DO know is that that fly won't being buzzing around anymore.
It's been killed by an
Entomophthora
fungus.

Here I was thinking what a cool looking white abdomen fly. All that white stuff on its abdomen is really fungus; scary and amazing at the same time.

Doesn't seem to be a flower fly.
Based on "hairy" thorax and wing venation.
