Syns: Resthenia mimica Distant, 1883 (new species, synonymized by Carvalho and Fontes, 1971)
Prepops mimica: Carvalho, 1959 (synonym)
Prepops mimicus: Steyskal, 1973 (synonym)

This species has been confused in past publications with the species Platytylus ornaticollis (Stal, 1862). The latter is currently recognized as a distinct species, known only from southern Mexico.(1)(2)
