I think P. gracilis is the only one in FL.

U FL does show gracilis to be the only Polacantha sp. in Florida on its "Robberflies (Asilidae) of Florida" site.

Asilidae.
Male robber fly of some kind (look at those claspers!:-) Maybe Herschel Raney can give at least a genus....
