Speckled plant bug?

Size: ~6mm
Not sure if I am on the right track, as I perused the plant bug photos and didn't see any quite like this. Found it in the shady overgrown area behind my garage. It ran off before I could get any more clear photos of other angles. I do have some additional not-so-clear photos if there are questions about other body parts. Thanks for any thoughts on this one.

P.S. I may or may not be falling in love with plant bugs. If anyone can recommend a book on identification, I would appreciate that as well.

it's a nice, fancy bug that deserves a name

Mine's a bit more green with dark purple but
yes, these do look like they could be kin. I thought I found one while scrolling through the Illinois specimens. Turned out it was my photo, lol! Glad to know you experts get just as interested in our newbie finds as we do!
