Explanation of Names

Dicaelus politus Dejean, 1826

Identification

Of North American Dicaelus this one most resembles "Pterostichus", is smallest (less than 15 mm), shiniest, and does not have elytral interval 7 carinate like the others.

Range

QC-IA south to AL-SC.
