the beggar (Euphabe mendica) but is it? - Macaria ribearia - Male

Size: 25 mm
This individual appears unlike photos I see online, in the field guides, or the one or two others I have seen in nature. The dark areas are much less distinct, more like smudges than is typical for the beggar, maybe. I am submitting it to find out if I have the identification correct.
