midge with white leg bands - Paratendipes albimanus - female

midge with white leg bands - Paratendipes albimanus - Female
Lake Meyer Park, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
May 29, 2019
Size: ~5 mm
The broad white bands on this midge looked like a good marker as I searched for possible matches and I did find some midges in the Lauterborniella group that looked similar. That guess may be way off base though.

Paratendipes albimanus
Thanks so much for identifying this neat little midge with its white "hands" as Paratendipes albimanus, John. I'm glad the photos were clear enough to show key details.
