Side question to you photographers, how do get a butterfly to spread its wings (naturally)? Gossamer wings don’t seem to like to show their dorsal colors so it’s hard for me to get pictures of it.

Butterflies are cold blooded
so some species only open wings to obtain heat energy or flight. Early morning is the most likely time for basking. During heat of the day, they will seek shade and keep wings closed to decrease surface area.
