Moth? Fly? Stumped!

Moth? Fly? Stumped!
Pleasant Springs, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
June 28, 2020
Size: ~1cm
I know the pictures are poor. I came across about 15-20 of these at the edge of my deck that morning. I thought they were moths, but it seems more like an emergence, which of course moths don't do. They were flittering around. FAST. Hence the very poor pictures. I left the area and came back 5 minutes later and most were gone. They did not look like drain flies or pantry moths. I'm hoping that even with these pics someone can help because they seem to be gone now.

Psyche casta
There must have been an adult female in one of the cases.

Psyche casta?
Psyche casta or something related, I think.

I think so!
I realized that I have cocoons (?) of these on the other side of my house! So I completely agree that is likely it!! Thanks so much!
