Aphoebantus borealis - female

Aphoebantus borealis - Female
Lake Piru, Ventura County, California, USA
May 5, 2008
Size: 7-8 mm
The females were abundant; males less so. Females kept landing at the mouths of neat, tiny holes such as bees produce. If this species is like other Aphoebantus, it attacks Acridid egg masses in the soil.
