This female came to UV around sunrise (6 AM), seems to be a larger type of Pheidole. She had wings, but shortly had dealated in the vial. Interestingly, by late that evening she had also deposited two eggs in the vial I was holding her in for pictures. By next AM, there were 11 (that seems fast..?). Now there are too many to count and are arranged in balls, etc. The number continues to grow daily. If one of the Guide's ant experts could chime in, I would appreciate it. Residential backyard in NW Cary, NC, blacklight (395 and 365 LEDs) and white sheet on my deck. That same overnight a lot of other ants came to the light.

Animal details - large head, takes an aggressive stance over the eggs. Approximately 8 mm long and robust, comparing to the smaller brown or brown/red bicolored Pheidole alates that seem to be more common at the light. I'll post other pictures of these (there are at least 4 species I've been getting, I think).
