June 20, 2020
Size: Forewing length about 5mm
I thought this boldly and distinctly patterned little bug would be easy to at least get to genus, but I couldn’t even get it to family! But Eric Eaton placed it in the genus Coquillettia. Can anyone here take it farther than that?
Found dead at UV lights. Wing length about 5mm. Cow pasture and wet meadow, surrounded by Ponderosa Pine forest and sagebrush flats. 44.3297 -120.2153 . Big Summit Prairie. Elevation 4600’. Ochoco Mtns, Crook County, Oregon, USA. 6/20/20.
