Large Beach Wasp - Cryptus - female

Large Beach Wasp - Cryptus - Female
Gabriel Dumont Park, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
June 23, 2020
Size: About 2 cm
I spotted this wasp from a few meters away and thought it was a large spider wasp hunting on the beach due to its colourful blue wings and overall black look. On closer inspection it looks like Ichneumonidae. It was hunting on the beach sand and stuck its antennae in the sand a few times in its hunt.
