What a beauty!
It's built like a blister beetle, but we haven't seen anything like it. It will be interesting to see where Phillip puts this on the info page!

Huh?
I don't know who 'Phillip' is, or why he is crafting the "info" page....but I agree it is a male blister beetle (note 'kinked' antennae), most likely in the genus Epicauta. This is certainly a boldly-marked specimen, but among blister beetles, that might not be enough to get a specific ID! They are highly diverse.

Blister Beetle?
I immediately thought this was a blister beetle, but it was much larger than any I've previously found and the strange antennae made me second guess. I don't see any specimens like it in the Epicauta, but I'll keep looking.

Positive ID
An exhaustive internet search finally revealed this guy to be
Epicauta atrivittata
. Bug Guide doesn't seem to have a page for this type of blister beetle yet. How would I go about making a new page or can only a moderator do that?
