Bee? - Melissodes bimaculatus - male

Bee? - Melissodes bimaculatus - Male
Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, USA
July 14, 2020
Size: Finger tip
What type of bee is this? I don’t know that I’ve ever seen them gather like this. They weren’t aggressive and didn’t even get agitated when I moved the plant around to try to get a good photo. They are difficult to photograph because they kind of curl around the plant/leaf stem. I would like to know as much as I can about them.

longhorned bees
These are male longhorned bees, possibly Melissodes bimaculatus. Males often aggregate on plant stems or flowers to sleep, as they have no nest. These locations are sort of a 'bachelor pad' for bees :)
