Southern Unstriped Scorpion - Vaejovis carolinianus - female

Southern Unstriped Scorpion - Vaejovis carolinianus - Female
Rome, Floyd County, Georgia, USA
May 11, 2008
An adult female Southern Unstriped Scorpion (Vaejovis carolinianus). This individual was found hiding underneath a piece of wood within a dry, sunny upland forest that is abundant in rocks and decaying logs. A much younger scorpion of undetermined gender was also living under the same piece of wood along with this particular individual, suggesting that this species is (or can be) communal.
