firefly with two lights on top of thorax -- id help please

The two lights are located bilaterally on the top of thorax in front of the wings. I have never seen anything like these before so I suspect they are not native. There many of them about now in my neighborhood in Weston, FL but their population fluctuates wildly. I didn't see any in the previous six months but they were around last summer.

Definitely Superfamily Elateroidea but I doubt Family Lampyridae. Plain brown with no distinctive markings. Any clue as to identification? Google has not been helpful.

I will photograph them if there is any interest.

Thanks,
Kevin

Elateridae
You are correct that this is not Lampyridae. It is an elaterid of the tribe Pyrophorini. There are four species in two genera in Florida -- Deilelater, with three widely distributed species, and Ignelater, with one species, I. havaniensis in South Florida only.
