Xenistusa
Central, Pickens County, South Carolina, USA
July 19, 2020
Came to a blacklight sheet in my backyard, in the first hour after sunset. The shrinkage is unfortunate. Ironically, I was collecting small roves into ethyl acetate instead of alcohol, in the hopes of getting prettier specimens.

Identified using American Beetles key to genera, and also by comparing with LeConte's type specimens on the MCZ database. This image didn't capture the sharply-defined trench formed at the elytral suture, but it is there and very distinctive.
