I found this butterfly today at lunch, but cant make a positive ID. Please help!

She's a beauty
Moved from Butterflies.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
This should be a female...males don't have near as much of the blue along the edge of the hindwing.

Well, I like them live, but if you want to pin one pop it in the freezer over night, then pin the body and set two small peices of wood up close and under the wings, carefully grab the edge of each forwing and pull it open along the wood, then take a strip of paper and pin eather side of it over the wing (so it holds the wing open but does not puncture it). Get the shape how you want and let it dry for about a weak and unpin. You will probubly want to stabilise the two small boards some how as well, but don't be surprised if your first few spreads end up loosing scales or tareing wings, it can take a while to get the art down. (I butcherd my first 5 for an entimology class, but by the end I could spread the wings on very tricky insects and got bonus points off of it)
