"Submit Image" page states: We prefer to see images of live specimens. Please,
do not submit mutilated bugs

In the age of digital photography it is difficult to see the purpose of this.

No problem. I am used to submitting beetles and most experts prefer dead or chilled specimens for certain details that usually can't be seen in live photos. This butterfly was not squashed it was just spread for the photo. Regards..

Thanks, and . . .
Mark,
Thank you very much for responding. In no way was this meant to be personal against you.
There are many differing opinions on this topic. It won't surprise me at all if an editor pulls this out of Frass.
BugGuide may need to consider making its policy clearer on this issue. I've seen other submissions that were disturbing (to me at least) and appeared to be in violation of what I presumed were the BG standards.
Regardless, this was proverbial straw for me. I am done.
Sincerely,
Roy
