velvety shore bug - Ochterus banksi

Lake Creek Trail, Austin, Williamson County, Texas, USA

Size: about 5 mm

Found in a rocky drainage area with ample vegetation. It sometimes hopped about, but it mostly sat still. First time I've seen this taxon. Species ID was easy using the 2016 revision of Ochterus by Polhemus & Polhemus (PDF obtained online).
