Strategus aloeus? - Strategus aloeus

Strategus aloeus? - Strategus aloeus
8 mi. SW of Wimberley, Comal County, Texas, USA
May 30, 2008
Size: 56-63mm lengths
Twelve of these beauties were unearthed when moving a wooden cable spool. I'm guessing Strategus aloeus, the Ox Beetle, because it's the only common beetle in my area large enough to be a candidate. I placed them in 6 inches of loose soil mix with some partially decayed hardwood bits. At this size, they should be near pupation.

Nice find!
I'm totally envious!
