Lined Flat Bark Beetle - Laemophloeus fasciatus

Lined Flat Bark Beetle - Laemophloeus fasciatus
Hudson, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
May 24, 2008
Size: about 2.5 mm
Out of hundreds of beetle adults and larvae of various species, this is the only laemophloeid I found under the bark of a couple dozen hardwood logs. This guy was under oak bark.

Just found my first
In the field, I thought it was a carabid. I changed my mind after taking a closer look. Will be posting pics soon.
