Perola clara - Perola clara

Perola clara - Perola clara
Pena Blanca Canyon, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
July 23, 2020

Moved to Perola clara
Moved from ID Request.

Tentative ID.

The only specimens of Perola from the US at BOLD are CNCLEP00099157 and CNCLEP00099156. Both specimens are in BIN BOLD:ACH0260 which DNA barcode separates from BOLD:ACY9870, the BIN for P. clara, by over 4%. While they look very similar to P. clara specimens, TL: Oaxaca, Mexico, I would be surprised if they were that species given the large separation in both COI sequence and location. I suspect that past reports of Perola clara refer to the same species as the CNC specimens whatever those turn out to be.
