Tanaops not Collops
This is a species of Tanaops, not Collops. Adults of various Tanaops species are common on Eriogonum spp. in Summer and Fall, often aggregating in large numbers.

Milkweed
Are they also common on Asclepias?

Thank you, Adriean!
I appreciate the i.d.
