Bee - Megachile - female

Bee - Megachile - Female
San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA
May 31, 2008
Size: 1/2"
I saw several of this species. They had a wierd habit of holding their abdomen upward instead of downward. Can anyone narrow it down?

Megachilidae
I'm not qualified to confirm the ID, but I'm pretty sure that the pollen-collecting fuzz on the belly (called a scopa) makes this something in the Family Megachilidae. I've seen many Leafcutter Bees (Genus Megacheile) with that posture, so that seems like a reasonable guess until one of our experts has a look at it.

yes, definitely a Megachile female
Subgenus may be either Megachiloides sensu lato or Argyropile (resembles M. parallela)
