Colletes ? - Colletes inaequalis

Colletes ? - Colletes inaequalis
Grantsburg, Burnett County, Wisconsin, USA
April 23, 2008
Going through images, Colletes seems to fit. Area is sandy, brush prairie with lots of wetlands. There were two groups of these guys, with 25 counted in one group, 7 in another group. It was one of the first weeks we saw bees in the area. Size could be described as Honeybee sized.

Any suggestions on species or am I wrong on Genus too?

Colletes inaequalis
This species is large for a Colletes and flies far earlier in the season than others

Right on Genus
A typical member of the Cellophane Bees (Colletes sp.). Maybe Dr Ascher will know the species.
