gall(?) on Bald Cypress - Taxodiomyia cupressiananassa

Size: 6-12mm length; 3-5mm diam
Found numerous of these on Taxodium distichum; roughly cylindrical. This pic shows 'ventral' view; other pics show upper surface.
I'm guessing a gall, but never was aware of them before.
