I am confused
What is this doing with the two images of an adult beetle and on the same day? Definitely not the same individual!

 
Well, I dug up the pupa in my
Well, I dug up the pupa in my garden on 5/25, took some pictures and placed it in a container to see what emerged. On 6/1 I looked in the container, the pupa was gone and there was this beetle. Based on that sequence of events, I assumed they were the same individual. Do you have reason to believe the pupa and adult don't match?

Then, the date for this pupa should read 5/25 and it becomes clear.
