Midge on Frog - Forcipomyia fairfaxensis

Midge on Frog - Forcipomyia fairfaxensis
Horse Hill Nature Reserve, Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
August 13, 2020
Size: 1 mm
Found feeding on the ankle of a young bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) on the bank of Long Pond within the Horse Hill Nature Preserve. The frog was non responsive both toward the fly and toward me (I had nudged the frog by hand before I had even realized that the midge was there, trying to get the frog to move so I wouldn't accidentally step on it while trying to photograph something else entirely.)

Moved
Moved from Biting Midges.
